The viola-solo evolved out of playing with the musical-material from a German lullaby, my mother used to sing to me as I was a kid. For it is a rather short song, I made quite a lot of variations, in some of them I stretched both time and register, finally layering the results on top of each-other, pressing them together into a new, single one-voice-line again.
In close collaboration with viola-player Joel Waterman, and thanks to his support, the piece got it’s refined and final touch.
